Oregon-Canadian Forest Products, Inc. and its affiliated companies view the preservation of forestlands as paramount to the future of our industry. Although Oregon-Canadian does not own any forestlands we recognise that as a consumer of forest products we have a role to play in shaping the way our suppliers care for the environment.
We endeavour to purchase material which has been harvested in a sustainable manner and has been certified to FSC, PEFC or other internationally recognised Chain of Custody Standards. Regardless of country or environment standard used, a company must practice sustainable forestry in order to be considered as a potential supplier.
Sustainable forestry means managing forests to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs by practising a land stewardship ethic which integrates the reforestation, managing, growing, nurturing and harvesting of trees for useful products with the conservation of soil, air, and water quality, and wildlife and fish habitat.
